Groupies

14 March, 2008

Corporate group shots are funny things.

Often, they involve people who may not have been told that they are having their photograph taken until after the photographer has arrived. No kidding. It still happens to me, even though I make a point of reminding the client to tell their staff.

The picture here shows four of the best sports you’ll ever come across. They recently established a high-tech start-up in Cork, housed in a building full of equally clever start-ups and tech-savvy firms. I had been asked by the local body that has a stake in the building to take a picture for their own annual report. Keen to give the start-ups in their building any help they can, my client suggested that I take a shot of the four guys here for their own promotional use as part of the commission. It was a very nice gesture, though it suprised the lads a bit. However, without so much as a frown, they happily posed for a quick pic.

The lighting was simple. A remote flash with a blue gel was aimed at the wall behind the boys. A second remote flash and umbrella was placed to the right of the camera.
