Adding Value
2 March, 2008Here are some shots from a two-day catalogue shoot that we did last week. Great client to work for (nice people and they do marvellous catering during their catalogue shoots), but nothing exciting in terms of the photography.
What was notable about the shoot is that we did all of the post-production on site. Yestin and I set up two shooting tables, with two separate cameras. This allowed us to shoot on one table while the other was being arranged. At the same time, Yestin was processing the images in a corner on a computer-and-two-screen configuration. It meant that the client was able to view the images on a 24-inch screen and sign off on each picture as we went along.
By the time we finished the 160 or so photographs, we had most of the post-production done. There will be minor tweaking in the office before we send a disc to the client’s designer, but in essence the work is done. This is good for the client, as there is some pressure on them to get the catalogue to market.
To speed things up even more, we could have emailed the files straight to the catalogue designer from the shoot. However, he wasn’t ready for the pictures just yet.
Nevertheless, it shows that with a bit of consultation with the client, we were able to meet a tight deadline by shooting two cameras simultaneously and doing post on the spot.
